It's not required to explicitly claim your unclaimed DVP, it will never disappear.

Your unclaimed DVP is claimed automatically with every DVITA transfer to or from your address.

Note that a claim transaction is just a transfer of 1 DVT to your own address.

if you really wish to make a claim transaction, it will require a fee (just like any other transfer).
